Smith, Yolande (nee Raymond)
July 23, 1942 – December 23, 2013

Yolande passed away, surrounded by her family, on December 23, 2013.

Yolande was the beloved wife of 45 years to Fred, mother of Nathalie (Chris) and Mark (Kim), proud Nana to grandsons Sydney and Max, and sister to Bertrand (Louise) and Jean-Yves (Suzanne).

Born in 1942 in Rimouski, Quebec, Yolande was a successful young teacher when she met Fred in her hometown of Chicoutimi, Quebec.

Married in 1968, they began their life journey together in Port Hawkesbury, Nova Scotia, eventually making their way West and settling in Calgary in 1976. Yolande’s full time job was raising her kids and she eventually returned to work as a French-immersion teacher aide. Fred and Yolande built their dream home in Bragg Creek and enjoyed relaxing small town living during their retirement years. Yolande was always full of life and enjoyed nothing more than having family and friends around her to laugh with. She and Fred enjoyed travelling around the world, being outdoors, and spending as much time as possible with their grandchildren.

Yolande made lifelong friendships wherever she went and always kept in close touch whether near or far.

We have lost a wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend but she will live forever in our hearts.

A Celebration of Yolande’s Life will take place on Saturday, January 4, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at the Bragg Creek Snowbirds Chalet in Bragg Creek.

Special thanks to the incredible medical team and support staff of the Foothills Hospital Intensive Care Unit C.
